The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars

As an avid John Green fan, there is only one true thing that I can write about today.

Green is not only a bestselling author, but also a youtuber who has created a community, nerd fighters, that have done so much with their time on the web.

I can’t suggest the book enough, but if you want a preview to the book (and soon to be movie) here it is.

I’ve loved the book since the first time I’ve read it. I felt all of the emotions that were connected to Greens words, however I didn’t express them myself; like so many others. Seeing the 3 minute trailer made it more powerful and I was aware of the messages that I missed whilst reading the book. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you hug your family tighter.

I think the trailer was an excellent snippet of the book. It gave away enough to make viewers curious and have them inquire more. It made me infinitely more excited for the movie.

Have any of you read the book? What are your thought? Do you think the trailer portrayed it well?

Maddening Monday: Obstacle Course

Maddening Monday: Obstacle Course

In a lot of ways, we are our own obstacle course.

LIfe gets thrown in there and provides us obstacles, but we inflict barriers upon ourselves.

The only thing that is really stopping you is you, to put it plainly. Think about the last time you were going to do something and didn’t, was it life or was it you. Life throws obstacles at you but the best way to go around them is to rely on the person you usually don’t, you. When’s the last time something happened that you thought that you couldn’t handle so you either gave up or sought for help? Could’ve you done it on your own? Try it. If you’re stuck on something, do another completely unrelated activity. You’re subconscious will still be working out that first problem, and you may just have an a-ha moment. By no means stop always asking others for advice and help, but become the kind of person you want to rely on.

Unintentional Week Off?!

Unintentional Week Off?!

So my life got pretty crazy this week, and it’s time for an iPhone blog.

I’ve moved back into my dorm room in college and got sick about 2 days later with something I can only explain that’s like the stomach flu but 4x worse.

I didn’t realize I was going to take a week off but I have to find that balance between school and personal life (blog included)

I swear I’ll try my best and the bloggin’ shall continue this upcoming Monday, hopefully!

Late to the Party: Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo

Late to the Party: Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo

Image

I recently started using dry shampoo because, as a student, I take naps and then have to get up and be somewhat presentable. I’ve learned that dry shampoo is the easiest and quickest way to do just that.

As I have really dark hair, most dry shampoos leave a grey or white residue in my hair.

The big sexy hair one does not leave any sort of unwanted residue and it gives my hair great volume that is easy to work with. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you want to see what all the hype about dry shampoo is about.

The Rickshaw Run

The Rickshaw Run

To finish off my travel week, which I didn’t really tell you guys I was having, I’m going to recommend a four part series by Jack and Finn Harries, otherwise known as JacksGap. It is entitled the Rickshaw Run.

They travelled through India with a few of their friends for charity and captured a lot of it on camera.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

I hope you enjoy. Tell me, if you had this kind of opportunity would you take it and where would you like to go.

What to Bring on an Airplane?!

What to Bring on an Airplane?!

IMG_0566ps

As I travel quite a bit, I know what I like to bring with me on an airplane. I hope anyone reading will find this helpful as much as future me will. So in no particular order…

Enjoy!

  1. Chapstick- There’s nothing worse then being on an airplane and feeling the moisture being sucked from your skin. Most helpful tool: Chapstick. Don’t lie; I know you have random tubes around because it is the easiest thing to lose.
  2. Perfume- Airplanes have a weird smell. Might as well get it off of you as much as you can without a shower.
  3. Lotion- See point one. Worst feeling ever.
  4. Brush- Yes, your hair is flat. Yes, it is all tangled. Yes, you look like a hot mess. A brush will be your superhero!
  5. Hair Tie- If not a brush, then a hair tie. Might as well pull that snarled mess back.
  6. Advil- Two words- screaming babies.
  7. Tide-to-Go- I’m the worst when it comes to spilling things. If not for your own safety, then for your neighbors.
  8. Camera- You will probably want to document this trip at some point, why not start now?
  9. Notepad & Pen- I’ve always found these useful for the millionaire ideas I have- just kidding. But it is a nice tool to have if you want to make lists. Oh yes, am I a list maker.
  10. Wallet- You must buy a t-shirt with your location on it. Or you know your ID to get on a flight. Always helpful.
  11. Sunglasses- Hopefully your destination is sunny. Unless you’re visiting somewhere cold. You never know though. It was -17 degrees Fahrenheit today and I was wearing sunglasses.
  12. Headphones- Again, screaming babies. Or the snoring neighbor.
  13. Earbuds- Less conspicuous, perhaps? Also easier to bring around while on vacation.
  14. iPad- You’ll be bored. Might as well play that Candy Crush level you’ve been trying to beat for the last 4 months. Or treat yourself and buy a movie. Heaven knows wifi prices on planes are usually ridiculous.

Hope I’ve provided some useful facts for everyone. Let me know what I forgot and have a great (future) trip!

It’s Grace!

It’s Grace!

Grace Helbig, otherwise known as DailyGrace, is one of my all time favorite vloggers. She is hilarious, relatable, and seems like an all around great person.

She has been making videos for the past five years under a company called My Damn Channel. This December her contract ended with that company and they both agreed, to my knowledge, not to renew it.

The one disheartening aspect is that the channel DailyGrace, with over 2 million subscribers, is not owned by Grace herself, granted it is all of her own original content, MDC will not let Grace keep moving forward to this channel.

Instead Grace has to revive her old channel, youtube.com/itsgrace. It isn’t the most ideal of situations but Graces fans have been spreading the word since the end of December. Not only that, but big youtube names have also written about this in much better depth than I am able.

I urge you, if you have a youtube account, to go and subscribe to Grace Helbig. The person, not the company owned account.

Top 5 Makeup Essentials of 2013

Top 5 Makeup Essentials of 2013

Without further ado, my top five makeup essentials of 2013.

ImageMy Number One: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Oh my goodness how great is this product. I have never found a better eye primer. You only have to use a very tiny bit so it’s worth kicking in the extra few dollars. I’ve had this tube for 2 months and still have plenty left. If you don’t remove your eye makeup, you will wake up with it on the next day. Not saying I’ve done that or anything…cough. Also I want to a water park for new years eve and my eye makeup stayed on the entire time. I think it even impressed my friends. Highly recommend giving it a go!

ImageMy Number Two: Clinique Quickliner in Dark Chocolate

I’ve always been a fan of trying new eyeliners but I never really found one that I like. I rediscovered an old Clinique eyeliner in my drawer, so I decided to test out a new one. I instantly fell in love. I love this because it sweeps on so easily. It doesn’t look too thick on the eye and lasts all day. It’s also nice because it has a smudge part on one end of the pencil.

ImageMy Number Three: Maybelline Baby Lips

I’m guessing a lot of beauty bloggers will have this in their favorite of 2013. This lip balm is seriously the best that I have ever owned. It goes on easily and lasts all day. It also makes your lips feel buttery. It does what it is supposed to outstandingly, which you can’t say for all lip balms.

ImageMy Number Four: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Brazen

Here, I’ll throw two Maybelline products at you in a row. I consider this to be an eyeshadow but it is purely pigment. I’ve had a few days where I put a matte shadow on and then this on top of it. I love how long it lasts in a day and I absolutely adore the look of it. It is small enough to bring with you, which is always good. I would love for Maybelline to come out with more neutral shades of this because I would be all over that. ImageMy Number Five: Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette

Oh my God, am I in love with this palette. This is seriously a product I lusted after until I could get my hands on it. The colors in the palette are rose based and it is right up my alley. You hardly need any shadow on your brush when you’re applying this. All of the colors come out beautifully and it is now my go to eye shadow. I have been very strongly considering buying the first two palettes in the Naked collection. If you can only get one eye makeup product, it’s this.
