Most Wanted

Most Wanted

Do you ever have those things you seen in the store that you like and always go back to but never actually buy? I’m talking have been eyeing up for nearly a year. A few days ago I bought 4 of these things.

#1 Aladdin Glass Jar Beverage Dispenser

Oh hey, the first and only non-beauty item. I’ve been looking at this practically since they came out earlier in the springs. I think they are really cute and a fun cute way to spruce up a jar. I recently moved into my own place so I finally have purpose for something like this. It is still untouched but I am thinking about putting lemon and mint with water in this bad boy. It’ll spice up just plain water, which I am honestly not that big of a fun of, strange right?

#2 Maybelline Nail Polish in Green With Envy

Honestly this was a toss-up between this and those cute little Revlon nail polishes that are scented. I probably would’ve gotten one of those but the colors that were there did not suit my fancy. I have also been looking for a minty-ish green for a while because I am in love with that color and I think it is perfect for summer. I’ve used this nail polish before and remember really liking it but it was definitely the color that I was pining after.

#3 theBalm Smoke Balm Eyeshadow Palette in Set One

This little guy was spotted in Kohl’s one day. I had been thinking about how to do a smokey eye for a while and then stumble upon this. I love the colors that it is, there is excellent payoff. I also like that it is super mini so it is easy to bring along. The best part may be the directions on the back though. This girls clueless when it comes to stuff like this and they are oh so helpful. I love how it looks on and now I am just in need of an occasion to wear smokey eyeshadow too. This is probably my fav purchase of the bunch.

#4 Covergirl Flamed Out Eye Pencil in Ginger Flame

What a strange name this one has. This is probably the product that really inspired this post. Whenever I went to any store with Covergirl products, I would quite literally always pick this up and stare at it. I love the color that it is and it was super attractive because of how easy it is to apply. I really love this pencil, the color is super pretty out of the case as well. It is one of those products that you throw on your face and go super quickly. Highly recommend.

Here’s a little different post for you all! I received some samples that I thought I would give my opinion on. Nothing better than strangers opinions. Plus, these all stuck out. Without further ado, here are a few mini reviews!

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

This is the one sample that I purchased instead of it just being tossed along. I was standing in line at Ulta, and you know those stands that they put right next to the registers, ugh do those things suck me in! Well, I saw this and had heard great things about it before so I decided to give it a whirl. I absolutely fell in love with it. It makes your hair shiny and ever so soft. The little packet was only $4 but I can’t seem to find them anymore so I may just need to jump on the full-sized product. In my opinion, totally worth it.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Body Butter

I ordered something off of Sephora’s website and with that comes 3 samples. I happened upon ordering when they were giving some of the best samples. This was one of them. Now I’ve heard quite a lot about Soap and Glory but have never used it or even tested it out in the store. This has me hooked. I used this immediately after showering and I don’t think that my body has ever felt softer. It goes on so nicely, it is like a treat for your skin. Needless to say, I used this bad boy up in one sitting. I think I’m now a Soap and Glory fan. Please do let me know if you have any other recs!

Nars Tinted Moisturizer

This was the sample that I was most excited for. On my wish list, a reader commented on it recommending this product. Oh my goodness. This stuff is the bomb.com. It goes on so nicely and, for me, it lasted all day. I’m not a fan of heavy face products and this felt so light, it made me incredibly happy. It is also unlike anything that I have which makes it even better. I don’t think the shade I received quite matched my skin tone but it was hardly noticeable! If (when) I buy it it’ll be in person to be perfectly matched.

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

This palette looks gorgeous with its top row of glitter shadows and the bottom row of matte. I liked it the few times I’ve used it but I don’t think it is something that I’ll purchase the full size of. The shadows did not have much color payoff and the quality is just so so. I’m glad I received this as a sample because I was definitely attracted to it before but now I think that I will pass. If you are debating between this and say a Naked palette I would recommend the Naked palette.

Have you tried any good samples lately?

The World is Not a Wish Granting Factory: An Update

The World is Not a Wish Granting Factory: An Update

I have moved into an apartment all on my own. Technically, it is with two other girls but they will not be here until mid-August so for now it is just me. I have only just gotten internet so I have had a lot of me time. While I like that in small doses, it brings upon a lot of negativity upon yourself. Like why aren’t you do anything and why is nothing working out for you.

That is specifically why I named this “The World is Not a Wish Granting Factory.” A quote from the excellent novel, The Fault in Our Stars. (Go see the movie, it will not disappoint. Then read the book, or vice versa.) This has been reining true with me and I’m sorry this is another woe is me post but it has been awhile. However, there is positivity at the end.

Coming with apartment living, is the new urgent necessity of money. I realize that I have not been here that long but I am feeling an overwhelming pressure to find a job. I do have some money saved so I am using that for now but I am feeling discouraged because I’ve applied to quite a few jobs and only have heard from one, who decided to ‘find someone that fit what they were looking for.’ It is somewhat rough to have the only answer being denied but hopefully with my head held high I will find something soon.

The other dilemma I have is having unsettled family back home. I do not want to go into too many details because it is not my story but I would like some advice. A 6 year old boy who I hold quite close to my heart has divorced parents and recently he said that he wishes his parents lived in the same house. Do any readers have any advice on what I can do for him or tell him?

The last thing is another something I’ve been mulling over for awhile. In April, I met with a woman about an internship, which is required of my major. I left the interview feeling very positive and nearly certain I got it. But then I did not hear from her. This was very disappointing to me. I sent her an email in mid-May with no reply. I felt very discouraged and had given up on the opportunity. It started to make me question what I was doing with my life and where I was going, while I know all of these other people doing really cool things, which I am really happy for them! Nevertheless, yesterday, she emailed me wanting to set up a meeting time this week so that I can start working on projects. I am thrilled that I will be interning this summer. Today (6/10) was the last day to add this to my schedule, so yesterday I ran around like crazy to add it.

The world is not a wish granting factory, but sometimes all you need is a little bit of light to become hopeful again.
