100 Lovelies!

100 Lovelies!

Hello Lovelies!

So this week something pretty damn wicked happened, and as you probably guessed from the tittle, my blog now has 100 followers! I cannot thank you enough. This is my personal thank you to each one of you- you all are the best and lets keep going. I usually don’t focus on numbers or stats, but this was just an awesome milestone. In the middle of October, this blog is turning 1 year old, as well.

That being said, I don’t have a normal “Sassy Saturday” post for you this week. I have being feeling uninspired, unmotivated, and just kind of down in general. I could not think of something I genuinely wanted to talk about and everything I did, I just did not have the power to sit down and write it because it wasn’t coming from the heart, as silly as that may sound. I also thought that it should be something special because of reaching 100 followers and put an added pressure that I couldn’t seem to shake.

If any of you have anything that you would like to see from me or just any general motivational things please let me know. I seriously can not thank you enough! You are my favorite and as per usual:

Keep Being You!

Love, Emily

Here’s a picture that really shows that I know what I’m doing:

Dress(ing) for Your Body!

Dress(ing) for Your Body!

Two of my favorite YouTubers, ChewingSand & SprinkleofGlitter, made this video, talking about how to dress to suit your body and shape, specifically focusing on dresses. One thing they said that I think is 100% right on is the fact that everyone has things they do like and everyone has things they don’t like. So lets talk about both using 5 of my own dresses!

Lets glance over me real quick, I have a flat ass, unaligned hips, a smaller waist, decent sized boobs, and long giraffe legs.  I am 5’8 and have a short upper body, I’m mainly legs. My tummy’s a bit chubby and my arms are a bit flubby. I range usually from a 10-12 or medium-large and I usually prefer things a big loose-fitting.

1 // Black & White Flower Dress from Kohl’s

What I love about this dress is where it hits. It goes in at my waist, which then means it doesn’t accentuate my hips. It’s a shorter dress so it really highlights my legs. The tightness at the top of the dress shows off my boobs as well, which you normally wouldn’t get from a high-necked dress.

2 // Floral Short Sleeve Dress from Topshop

This dress features a dropped waist, which is great for me because it gives the illusion that I have a long torso. It goes out right before my butt, which means that it doesn’t cling. Because of this, it looks like I have more of a butt then I do. I love the sleeve length. It covers the areas where I am not the most confident.

3 // Black & Floral Maxi Dress from Kohl’s

I love maxi dresses because I am tall, so the materials not swimming at the bottom of the dress. This dress goes in right underneath the bust which is fantastic for me. It doesn’t bring attention to the chest but it still looks good there. The 2 lacy bits at the bottom are see-through, and the slip stops after the first one, so you can still get a little bit of leg.

4 // Chevron Dress from Kohl’s

This is a tighter fitting dress, but it hangs from my chest so it doesn’t cling to my hips or my stomach. I absolutely love the sleeve length, I love 3/4 tops. Because it is a tighter fitting dress, it makes it look like I have a butt.  The chevrons are busy so any imperfections that may usually stand out are, really, hidden behind it.

5 // Black & White Bodycon Dress from H&M

This is probably one of the most ‘daring’ dresses that I own. I don’t normally go for bodycon dresses, but I like this one for a few different reasons. The best thing about this dress it the black paneling that goes in. Because of this, you can’t tell that my hips are unaligned. It also makes it look more slimming. It shows off my legs as well. Again, because it is tight-fitting, it makes it seem like I have a butt. Also, because of my chest, it doesn’t cling to my stomach.

Well, there we have it. I hope that you enjoyed this and I would love for you to do this too! Or let me know something that you like about your body. You only get one body, make sure to give it some love!

Makeup Tag!

Makeup Tag!

I was lacking inspiration this week, so I thought to try something a little different, why not do a tag? I found this on another blog from 2013, so why not try and revive it? So thank you Make Up Mayhem for a 30 Beauty Questions Tag! Here we go:

1 // Do you remember your first makeup item?

I am fairly sure that my first makeup item is one I still use and that is Bare Minerals Multi-Tasking Concealer in Bisque.

2 // Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

This is going to sound weird, but my perfect mascara is one that makes my lashes black and it gives a little curve. I don’t need a lot of volume and I don’t need the lengthening aspect, as I already have long lashes. I think the closest one might by the Ulta Super Stretch Fiber Mascara.

3 // What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

I like my foundation to have a medium, preferably matte, coverage. I am better with light than I am with heavy.

4 // Favorite high-end brand?

I think my favorite high-end brand is a tie between Tarte and Urban Decay.

5 // What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Probably Makeup Forever and Marc Jacobs.

6 // Favorite Drugstore Brand?

NYX or Rimmel, hands down.

7 // Do you wear fake eyelashes?

I do not.

8 // Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

If anything, concealer. But I often leave the house without anything.

9 // What is your most cherished beauty product?

My naked 3 palette.

10 // How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

I shop way too much, in general. If I go to target or somewhere like it, I’ll always look at the makeup but not necessarily but anything. Its places like Ulta and Sephora that get me.

11 // Do you have a beauty budget or do you spend freely?

I try to have some kind of budget. I make sure to only buy one “big” (read expensive) item per month.

12 // Do you utilize coupons, reward cards, and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

Oh my God, yes. I live for them.

13 // What type of product do you buy the most of?

It’s probably a toss-up between lip products and eyeliner/eye shadow.

14 // Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

I can’t think of any off the top of my head- probably not.

15 // Do you avoid certain ingredients when purchasing cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

I appreciate when they don’t have those things, but I don’t actively avoid it. Lately, I’ve been trying to avoid buying from companies that test on animals- as much as I can.

16 // Do you have a favorite place to shop for cosmetics?

Hands down, Ulta.

17 // Do you like trying new skin care products or do you keep a certain routine?

I like trying new products, because I’m still trying to work out the perfect routine for me.

18 // Favorite bath and body brand?

I really like Soap and Glory, but I love the Body Shop.

19 // If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

High End- Urban Decay ~ Drug Store- Rimmel.

20 // What brand do you think has the best packaging?

I really like Too Faced’s packaging.

21 // Which celebrity always has great makeup?

I’m going with a YouTube celebrity, MissGlamorazzi.

22 // Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

I’m not sure what this means, but I love reading beauty blogs and watching beauty vloggers.

23 // 5 Favorite Beauty Gurus.

MissGlamorazzi, EssieButton, Zoella, SprinkleofGlitter, & HeyClaire

24 // Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

Not really, I always prefer one over the other and then just use that.

25 // Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

When I’m in a rush I am, but for the most part not really. We all have those messed up eyeliner days though.

26 // Do you use makeup base/primer for eyes?

Yes! My favorite is Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

27 // How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

When I wash my hair, shampoo & condition + It’s a 10 miracle leave in conditioner.

28 // What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

29 // Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

Yes! I’d love to.

30 // What do you love about makeup?

I love that it is something that you can tailor specifically to you. You can dabble in it as much as you’d like. You can mirror how you are feeling with the makeup that you put on. I believe that it is truly an art form.

Thank you for reading! If you end u doing this, please let me know! I’d love to read it! I think these tags are a great way to learn more about the person behind the blog. Maybe someday I’ll do a more personal one- not related to beauty.

August Favorites!

August Favorites!

Hello Lovelies!

With another month, comes another favorites! These might also be my favorite things to write, though I don’t know why. I hope that with September all of you are settling in nicely to school/work, and whatever else. Lets all have a fantastic month, shall we? I think these are all new products but they might have been used in previous posts, so lets get into it!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Neutralizer

Well I finally have hopped on this train haven’t I. I heard one of my favorite bloggers, vloggers, Essiebutton, rave on about this. Let me tell you it does not disappoint. It really is a great concealar and brightens up the under eye area. I would highly recommend trying this.

The Body Shop Flawless BB Cream in 02

After this summer you’d think that The Body Shop was sponsoring my blog, their not, but that’d be wicked. I’ve just only discovered them for the first time recently and I am obssessed. Like many others, on this humid days, I don’t want to put on a full face of foundation. This is the best happy-medium. It still covers wonderfully but does not feel heavy on the face in the slightest. I love the finish that this BB cream gives, check it out, yo.

Ulta Gel Eyeliner in Black Out

This was something I picked up on a whim when they had that deal for a free bag with more makeup. I am always in the search of new eyeliners to try and I am so awful at doing gel eyeliner with a little pot and brush. I really like using this on my waterline because I find that it lasts longer. It doesn’t have the greatest staying power but I’m trying to figure out a way around that.

Ulta Super Stretch Fiber Mascara in Jet Black

This was another Ulta product and I believe that it was in the free bag. If you regularly read my blog, you probably wouldn’t know that I’m not the biggest mascara fan. I’m fortunate to already have long lashes, but I like to use mascara to make them a little more dramatic and darker. This is the perfect mascara for that. I have never been so instantly impressed by a mascara, but I think this may be my new life go-to.

Too Face Natural Eyes Palette

Let me tell you a story about this. One day, I  finally decided that I was going to go to Ulta and pick this up. You know that feeling of anticipation and how it just feels awesome to go to a store and buy something? Well, they didn’t have it when I went. So sadly I never got that satisfactory feeling and ended up buying it online. All worth it  thought, because this is my favorite palette. I love the browns and pinks it has. It is so pigmented. There are so many combos and it just looks wonderful, whatever you may choose. When I go somewhere, I’ve been only brining this palette, and let me tell you, that’s hard for me, but it has yet to fail me.

Well, there’s a long winded august favorites for you all! I feel like it has been awhile since I have just sat down and wrote, without having it all planned. I hope that you’ve enjoyed and see ya next week!
