One thing that, I think, I’ve mastered is perfecting my makeup bag. Now overpacking but not underpacking. Maybe a little over.. But this works for me and is great for travel!

Accidental Haul + Ipsy!

Accidental Haul + Ipsy!

Hello People of the Internet!

Today on my drive back to school, I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Walmart. This is where it just started to go wrong. I wanted to look at the beauty things, and ended up with a mini haul… oops! Also, don’t go to Walmart right after you’ve watched someones drugstore favorites. You’ll end up buying everything mentioned. Plus my Ipsy bag was on my bed and this month was so cute! I am really pumped to try everything out.

FullSizeRender 2

From L to R: Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Apricot Pucker, L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper in Medium to Dark, Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips, Neutrogena Shine Control Powder, & Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer

From Top to Bottom, Left to Right: Cargo Lip Gloss in Anguilla, Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush, ‘Tini Beauty Eyeshadow in Pearl Fizz, ModelCo Blush in Cosmopolitan, & Hey Honey Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask

I don’t know if I want to ask this or not, might end up with another haul, but what are some of your favorite drugstore things of the moment?

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day

I’m going to be blunt and say I hate Valentine’s day. I know I’m not alone. But Emily, you’ll change your mind when you’re not single! Probably to definitely not. I just don’t understand having to show love and appreciation on one day of the year, it is like a universal reminder to say, oh yeah- I love you! I thought I would take how I feel on the inside and express it on my face so we have a smokey eye and red lip.

Foundation – first we’re going to apply the base. This will help us keep a smooth, concealed face when we have to be ‘happy’ around other couples. Especially in public. Smooth out any kind of jealousy or anger. Set it with a matte powder to make sure it lasts all day.

Eyebrows – We’re going to go for a strong look here and match that on the outside. This is for when everyone asks how you can be single. It is great for forcing you to still be nice in public, no matter how bitter you are. Stay strong, kids.

Eyes – This is to really express how we feel on the inside. Keep it dark and smoky. Don’t let anyone get in your way and just go for it. It is really to express the anger that has built up in you. Then slap some mascara on and make your mascara crazy, gotta unleash the crazy somewhere. Drag that eyeliner along your bottom lash to really make the look dark and intense.

Lipstick – I mean, the blood of your enemies, innit. Also goes great with that inner anger you’ve been storing. Stick with the bold red lip and don’t waste it on anyone. The only thing that’s going to touch these lips is Starbucks and maybe a shot of vodka.

Outfit – The darker the better, though I did go for a tan coat. Still not a color and nothing to remind me The Day. Work your body and dress for you. Make sure to include the pointiest of heels, though. Show them whose boss.

All right, all right. No shame if you do like it and I hope you enjoy your day! I’ll be waiting for my favorite day of the year: February 15, when all the candy is on sale.

Makeup Storage!

Makeup Storage!

If you’re anything like me, you love seeing how other people store their belongings. I’m not just talking about makeup, I live for Pinterest organization. Someday, I will be good at DIY stuff dammit. My organization is not perfect, but it works for me and I figured why not share it. Plus I just bought a desk organizer from Target that I’m using for palettes and it is wonderful. Only 7 dollars too!

makeup storage

1 // This is a drawer like thing that is from Target. I keep this on my vanity’s shelf. The things that are in here are things that I read for most often and things that I want to try more.

2 // The easiest way to store my makeup brushes is in something like this. I love that this is coated white. It is such a cute decoration that adds to any vanity. I have no idea where it is from, probably Target. This post isn’t sponsored by Target, btw, I just really frickin love it.

3 // This is the desk organizer that I was talking about. I think that this is so nice and handy. Palettes are such a pretty makeup item so why not display them! Now the problem is if I get any more…

4 // This doesn’t have any makeup in it but I like it so I figured why not include it. It does have Reese’s in it, which is my favorite candy!

5 // My makeup collection has leaked over into my bookshelf. I use the last two cubbies for more miscellaneous thing. In this little drawer, also Target, I keep the overflow from my main one. It tends to be stuff I don’t reach for quite as often.

6 // This has things in it that I don’t reach for all that much. I am pretty good at remembering where I put things, organized chaos, so I don’t completely forget about this drawer.

7 // This is mainly skin care and samples. A lot of the things that I get from my Ipsy and Birchbox bags get thrown in here. I try to shake it up so I remember what’s in here and try new things.

January Favorites!

January Favorites!

Hello lovely people of the internet!

I seem to have unintentionally taken some time off but I am back! I apologize for that break but every time school starts up again, I just have to sit back and figure out how to handle everything. Moving along from that, it is monthly favorites time! These are by far my favorite things to write and I would love to hear your favorites from the first month of the new year!

Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion

This is not the first time that this has appeared on my blog. I had it on one of my empties post and said I was going to try something new. Never let me do that again! This stuff is the bomb and it works like a charm. I get blemishes more in the winter and dry patches on my face and this is just the best thing for that. Never again will I leave you, Murad.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude

I picked this up in the Sephora death trap, right before you check out, on a whim. Go impulsive me. This is the shit, I seriously love this. Like I said, my skin is more on the dry side in the winter and this just helps so much. I love how it feels on my face and it lasts all day. It definitely is more of a sheer coverage but that is perfect for me right now. This is a travel size, which I love, because I like trying products out before buying the full size.

Nars Blush Orgasm

This is actually a little travel sized palette (featured here) but I specifically want to focus on the blush. This has been my favorite blush of the month, maybe of all time. I’ve had this palette for quite awhile but I was apprehensive about it at first, don’t know why, but now I’m in love. The one downfall of loving the blush the most is that I have to cart around the whole thing for one portion, so I may just end up buying the blush on its own!

Stila Eyes are the Window Palette in Soul

This is something that I would always swatch in Sephora and just think about how pretty the colors and packaging are. Then I was watching Claire Marshall’s December favorites and she mentioned this. Throughout the video, I was thinking about how much I liked her eye shadow, and she said she used this. I was sold. The colors are so pretty and they are so easy to mix and match. The mirror is huge so it is perfect for travel. I highly recommend checking this out!

Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water

Let me tell you, this was a bitch to photograph. I could not find a good way to do so and for that I apologize. I have been on the hunt for something like this for a long time and I am so happy I found this. It takes all of your makeup off and makes your skin feel and look great. It is the perfect easy product and it is going to take me so long to get through. Definitely a deal!

There we have it. My January favorites all wrapped into one little blog post. I do love blogging and I love blogging about the things I enjoy most. During my little hiatus I was thinking about this and I have decided that I am still going to post once a week, just not always on the same day i.e. Saturdays. Sometimes creativity strikes me when I least expect it, so I am going to cling to that and hope that, maybe, it’ll lead to multiple posts a week. I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the year and I’ll talk to you some time.
