Valentine’s Day \\ The Look

Valentine’s Day \\ The Look

Ah, the best day of the year for single people – Valentine’s Day.

To me, this has and always will be a Hallmark holiday that I do not care to celebrate whether or not I have a boyfriend. Thought I’d do a little tutorial for all the non-believers/Valentine’s lovers. I’ll be waiting for the candy sale on the 15th.

Here’s my 10 step tutorial for V-Day.

Step 1: A dark smoky eye to accurately reflect the color of your soul

Step 2: Cat Eyes to foreshadow that you’ll become a crazy cat lady

Step 3: Waterproof mascara for when you realize that literally all of your friends have significant others

Step 4: Full coverage concealer to hide your true feelings

Step 5: Sharp contour to show that you aren’t to be messed with

Step 6: A strong brow to show that you are a strong woman

Step 7: Highlighter because you need more men to notice you

Step 8: A dark, vampy lip because lord knows you’re not making out with anyone

Step 9: Setting spray to make your makeup last until you find a man, better hope it’ll keep your makeup on for years

Step 10: Finish the look, conquer the world – or the bar

xx – Emily

Ulta Haul!

Ulta Haul!

Hello All!

I went to Ulta today to pick up a new foundation, unfortunately, they don’t sell Estee Lauder, so I will have to try that out another time. I’m really looking forward to that! Naturally, I bought a few more things and received two samples! Those are always the best!

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Gel in Buttercream

This is something that I’ve been eyeing for a while and I decided to try it out now that it is finally starting to warmup in the Midwest. I like lightweight coverage so I’m excited to see if this improves my skin.

Real Techniques Bold Metal 200 Oval Shadow Brush

I love my 201 brush, so when I saw that these were marked down ($19 to $12) I thought that was pretty damn good deal. I can always use more brushes and after testing this out, I’m pretty sure I don’t have anything like it. Plus, it is so pretty!

Tarte Total Lip Service in Berry

It’s no secret that I love a nice Berry Lip color. Plus I adore Tarte. With those two things in mind, how could I walk past this? I was actually happily surprised that the jumbo pencil is full size! What better way to try out some new lippies?

Tarte Maracuja Neck Cream

This was a freebie that I received. The lady checking me out said that if I didn’t want to use it on my neck, to use it on my legs. So we’ll give that okay and see what happens. I literally have no idea what to expect, the beauty of samples.

Mini BareMinerals

How cute is this? This was the second freebie. She guessed my color so I’m not entirely sure if it’ll match but I love looking at it. Mini things are my weakness. I’m super pumped to try it out.

Well y’all, that’s it for now. Have any of you been shopping recently? What did you pick up and would recommend? Always need an excuse to shop 😉

BRAND New Face: Tarte

BRAND New Face: Tarte

Thought I’d do another brand new face with what is, probably, my favorite high-end brand, Tarte! I am seriously obsessed with their makeup and want to get my hands on more. I apologize that what I’m using mainly came from a Christmas set but there are a lot of other gems in here as well!

For my base makeup I used my holy grail foundation, Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation in Light Neutral, which I absolutely adore. Then I used Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer on Light that I’m not going to talk to much about because it’s going to show up in a little monthly post soon. 😉

I then applied a light sweep of Park Ave Princess bronzer. I really love this. I don’t always use bronzer, but when I do it is usually this. It’s not too muddy and I just think that it is the perfect color. Then I used the blush in Envisioned. Man, are these things hyped about. I can understand why and they’re very pretty but I’m just not that infatuated with them. I’m going a bit out of order so I’m going to talk about the lip gloss. This is in the color Paris.  I really do like these, they have a really pretty color payoff, but they’re kinda sticky. Like hair always gets caught in it sticky.

I started my eyes by using the clean slate 360 creaseless eye primer. I find that this works best with other Tarte products, weirdly? I do like it but I just don’t find the lasting power works as well with non Tarte shadow. Maybe that’s just me. Next, I used the colors from the palette above. These are so, so pretty. The color is definitely buildable. They last all day and do not have any fall out. I seriously love them. The gel eyeliner I used is new to me, and I think it’s my favorite gel ever. It is the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Clay Pot in Blackened Plum. Now, I haven’t used many because they kind of terrify my, but I’m obsessed. The purple color is so, so pretty and the liner itself is 100% manageable. Definitely worth checking out. Then I used my mascara that I’ve raced on and on about, so I don’t need to say anything else

Overall, I love Tarte as a brand, I think they are incredible. I’m obsessed and will definitely be checking out more of their stuff.

What Tarte recommendations do you have?

It is the end of the year once again and how crazy is that. I’m not going to lie, 2014 was definitely not my favorite year. I am starting off 2015 with more positivity and higher hopes. October Favorites!

October Favorites!

Hello Lovelies!

November is finally upon us! It is my favorite month, though I may be biased because it is my birthday on the 23rd, turnin’ 21 y’all! I also love building up the anticipation for Christmas, I think I may like the anticipation more than the actual event, but that’s just me! The first snowfall always makes me happy and I always long for a White Christmas, but after that it can melt! Never does though, damn Wisconsin. BUT lets dive into the things that I’ve obsessed over last month!

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator

As you can all probably tell, I’ve gone a little nuts over the Body Shop recently, whoops! I think that is because I have yet to try a product that I don’t really like. I’m awful when it comes to skin care, and even more awful when it comes to exfoliating. But I love how this makes my skin feel (it is so soft!) and how it makes my skin look.

L’oreal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup in Nude Beige

Upon trying this product, I realized that I have never actually tried anything from L’oreal before. But I absolutely love this foundation. It has such a great build able coverage but also your skin still feels and looks like skin, which is what I, personally, want in a foundation. The other great thing about this is that there are so many options.

Paul Mitchell Express Style Fast Form

I don’t talk about hair much on here but that is because I’m still trying to figure it out, good lord do I struggle. But I also have really thick hair that takes literally all day to dry. The last time I want to get a haircut, the hairdresser recommended this to me and it is worth it. Basically what it does is make your hair dry faster which is a miracle product, in my eyes.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Limitless

When I first got the Tarte collectors set I knew I’d fall in love, and that I did. I immediately blogged about it: see here. My next two favorites come from it. I think that this blush is perfect for fall/winter because it has this peachy rose shade that looks like you’ve just been kissed by the cold. You hardly need to touch your brush to the plus because it has that much pigment, totally worth it!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose Tarte Marcuja Lipgloss in Nice

I don’t know about you, but once there is the slightest gust of cold air my lips immediately get dry and start to crack. I love many lip balms but this ha sheen my favorite of October. It provides so much moisture, with a really nice color tint. I like a little bit of a lip gloss look and have found that the two of these go together wonderfully.

I hope you are having a great start to November, and if not remember that you can always turn it around! You are in control and you 110% got this! Thanks lovely people of the internet!

As you know, I’m  a massive Tarte fan, so when I found their Away Oui Go Portable Palette for $50, I fell in love. It includes: 16 full sized eyeshadows, 4 full sized blushes, 3 mini lip glosses, a mini mascara, and a gorgeous collectors compact. I mean lets talk about how gorgeous this is:

July Favorites!

July Favorites!

Hello Lovelies!

Here’s an obligatory oh my god the summer has gone by so fast what the Hell is going on comment. But yes, with that comes what my favorite July products have been! I don’t think I’ve talked about or reviewed any of these on my blog before so lets dive right in, shall we?

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation in Light Neutral

This foundation has been raved about by so many bloggers. That’s most likely what led me to trying it. I’d say that gives a medium coverage but it just feels so nice on your face. It is super lightweight, which is something that I look for in makeup products because I hate that cakey feel. It is seriously worth the splurge go check it out.

Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush

Now, this was in an eye brushes kit that I bought. I thought what the hell am I ever going to use this for. Well I will tell you, I use it for blending my concealer. It works like a charm. It works magically under your eyes or over any spots you may have. I love Real Techniques brushes and am happy that I didn’t just throw this bad boy away after not working in my crease.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Ave Princess

This was another product that I was always dying to try. This was part of a kit I believe and it is mini so it was a bit cheaper, the best way to try something, in my opinion. I haven’t used that many bronzers but I love this one. It goes on super well and it stays all day and just really helps define your face, without being too dark.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Afternoon Tea

I really like Tanya Burr’s YouTube Channel, so I figured that I would like her products just as much. This is the perfect pale pink shade that just adds a lovely color to your lips. I really want to try more of her products and I wish that they could ship Nail Polishes to the States. Maybe someday I’ll walk into Ulta and they’ll be there, that’d be wicked.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray

I love beach sprays, and have been using that Not Your Mothers brand. But I think I like this one a lot more. I received this in my July Ipsy bag and immediately brought on vacation just trusting that I would like it. It did not let me down. I love the smell of this and I love the natural wave it gives to my hair. It’s also a nice product because it doesn’t weigh down your hair, whatsoever.

Here’s my face with the products mentioned above (and more).
