Valentine’s Day \\ The Look

Valentine’s Day \\ The Look

Ah, the best day of the year for single people – Valentine’s Day.

To me, this has and always will be a Hallmark holiday that I do not care to celebrate whether or not I have a boyfriend. Thought I’d do a little tutorial for all the non-believers/Valentine’s lovers. I’ll be waiting for the candy sale on the 15th.

Here’s my 10 step tutorial for V-Day.

Step 1: A dark smoky eye to accurately reflect the color of your soul

Step 2: Cat Eyes to foreshadow that you’ll become a crazy cat lady

Step 3: Waterproof mascara for when you realize that literally all of your friends have significant others

Step 4: Full coverage concealer to hide your true feelings

Step 5: Sharp contour to show that you aren’t to be messed with

Step 6: A strong brow to show that you are a strong woman

Step 7: Highlighter because you need more men to notice you

Step 8: A dark, vampy lip because lord knows you’re not making out with anyone

Step 9: Setting spray to make your makeup last until you find a man, better hope it’ll keep your makeup on for years

Step 10: Finish the look, conquer the world – or the bar

xx – Emily

2 Wishlist Purchases!

2 Wishlist Purchases!

A lot of the time I’ll make a Wishlist and completely forget about it. I don’t think about it, really, again until I make another one. I hardly buy things for myself from my Wishlist. But the other day, I picked up two things that I am so, so excited about!

How gorgeous are these two beauties? I picked up the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon and the Naked Flushed Palette in Streak. I’ve given both a go, so I thought I’d give my first impression/review!

I’m going to start with the palette. This palette is something that I’ve continuously swatched at the store. I thought it was just gorgeous, the perfect size, and loved that it put 3 separate things into one. I am trying to make my makeup collection more travel friendly, so I decided now was the time to buy this! It is just a convenient little product and I am so, so obsessed. The mirror makes it the perfect product to throw in your bag. On Sephoras website it says it includes a pale bronze matte bronzer, peachy shimmer highlighter, and a bright coral blush. This is so damn perfect for summer.

If you watch YouTubers like Tanya Burr or ViviannaDoesMakeup, you’ll have heard of the By Terry Ombre Blackstars before, and with good reason. These bad boys are just gorgeous. I decided to go for bronze moon because I thought I’d get the most bang for my buck. It is all I’ve worn since I bought it! I put it to the ultimate test the first day I wore it because I went through a 13 hour day- that involved sweating. This bad boy only creased a teeny tiny bit by the end, nothing that anyone else would notice. I love it because you can blend it out to just give you a subtle pop or really play up the color. Both are gorgeous. I may just have to see what other colors are out there…

I am so, so excited for these new products to play with! Have you picked up anything off your wishlist recently?

June Favorites!

June Favorites!

Another month, another favorites. As I have no updates, other than I just watched every single episode of New Girl there is on Netflix, lets jump right in.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer

Other than the ridiculously long name, I love this stuff. I am usually all about those matte bases but recently my skin has been super dry and gross- fun! I saw this and I thought that I would love it and I do. There is something about primers that make your face so soft and give that perfect little oomph.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

To be honest, I could’ve/should’ve done a late to the party post on this but I thought I’d throw it into my favorites. This is without a doubt a cult classic, and I am jumping onto that bandwagon. My skin doesn’t always agree with bronzers, it’s weird. But, this stuff looks awesome and gives my face a little shape. The packaging is not my favorite but I actually do like the little brush.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown

I am in love with the original Kat Von D liner. However, with this new color, it was not love at first sight. I tried it out and could hardly get it to work, so I wrote it off and put it aside. A few weeks later, I was determined to get the damn stuff to work and it happened! I love the soft brown color that you get from this. Perfect for everyday, natural wear.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I think this has been featured in my last 2 or 3 posts… oops. But that just goes to show how much I adore it! If it is a good neutral palette I am bound to love it. I was trying to reach for warm neutrals and found that I didn’t have many to choose from. This has been in the back of my mind for a while, so I decided to pick it up as a done-with-junior-year-of-college gift. Plus it is just so pretty to look at! For real, obsessed.

NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait

I said in my last favorites, where I have another one of these bad boys, that I could see myself collecting all of these. Here is my newest addition and love! I’ve seldom tried pink lip colors like this. I just thought I wouldn’t wear/like them. That is not the case! I was looking for a bright pink to go with mint green and stumbled upon this. Since the day I bought it, I’ve worn it practically every day. Perfect summer color!

I hope that you are all enjoying your summer and flaunting those bright lipsticks with cute dresses! Or whatever suits your fancy! Does Anyone have any exciting vacations planned?

2014 Favorites!

2014 Favorites!

It is the end of the year once again and how crazy is that. I’m not going to lie, 2014 was definitely not my favorite year. I am starting off 2015 with more positivity and higher hopes. On a better note, the makeup of 2014 was incredible. I really started to like it and saw it as an art form. It made me be able to express myself in entirely new way. Here are my top 14 favorites of 2014!

1-4 // Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in Light, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent, Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Neutral, & Benefit Porefessional

5-8 // The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion, Urban Decay DeSlick Setting Spray, Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep, Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’oro

9-11 // Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Champagne, Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

12-14 // NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu, Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Afternoon Tea, Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 104

There we have it! These are the things that I absolutely fell in love with in 2014. If you’d like a further description of why I love these things or some reviews, please let me know as I’d be happy to! I usually add some thoughts to my favorites but I thought that would get quite lengthy. Also, let me know your favorite things of 2014, whether that’s makeup or other things!

November Favorites!

November Favorites!

Hello There!

Took a little bit of a break, didn’t I? Oops… so sorry about that! Alas it is the week before finals, and that is where all my energy is going, totally not just marathoning Once Upon a Time on Netflix. That should be one of my favorites, I’m obsessed. So, this is later than I would’ve liked but I’ve just been so damn busy, but I guess that’s the college life. It feels great to write like me rather than super academic-y.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep

I am just going to come right out and say that this is a miracle product for me. I have really sparse eyebrows in places, and this just fills them right in. This always works with what ever eyebrow product is put under it. All around great product.

Urban Decay All Nighter Eyeliner

I am always on the search of an eyeliner for my waterline. After my Smashbox one repeatedly breaking on me, I had had it. Until I stumbled across this at Ulta. It does exactly what I need- stays in place for a really long time. The color payoff is another wonderful attribute.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Champagne & LoracPRO Palette

I love a good eye primer, and the Too Faced ones never fail to disappoint. My mom handed this down to me after realizing she wasn’t going to use it. I freaking love it, it can be worn alone but sometimes I like putting light bronze on top of it.

LoracPRO Mascara

I got this in a set of more LoracPRO things, but this is one of my favorites. It adds so much volume and definition to my lashes, which is expected when you see the want. My god, is it big. Sometimes bigger is better. I am so bad at describing why I like mascaras… someday.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Berry

This is something that I received in another set, and is the stand out star for me, and also the one I was most excited for. The color that you get from these is absolutely insane. You hardly need any and your lips look great. I did not find them super drying either and they seem to last a long time. 10/10, would recommend, and buy more!

There we have it! I am not sure if there will be a post on Saturday, we’ll just have to find it! I could probably do next Wednesday again but then I’ll just get all thrown off. To anyone amidst finals I wish you luck! Especially if you’re reading this 😉

*All images were found through a Google search. I do not own any of them.

I think it says a lot about a product if I’ve actually used it all up. So why not share my own opinions on the internet? Here is what I am sure will be some kind of series: empties!

The Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion was an item that I received in some sort of bundle. I don’t know what happened to the other items but this one stuck around until it ran out. I used this as a moisturizer and after not using it for a while I’ve noticed a change in my skin. I am going to try another moisturizer for now but if my skin does not get better I am definitely going back to this bad boy.

Oh the Benefit Porefessional. How many people have raved about this and how many times have I talked about it. Yes, have already repurchased. This is my holy grail primer. I feel like I should try other ones just to compare but I just love this one. They even have baby samples so you can try it without committing, but trust me you’re going to want to commit.

I ran out of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance awhile back and have been using a different one. I am all for trying new things but I know someday soon I am going to revert back to this product. I have not been able to find the long-lasting power this product has in any other primers I have tried. It really makes your eyeshadow last all day, which is what I look for in primers.

This is the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer and it is just heaven. This was another one that I bought, I think even before this product ran out. It just works so well as a concealer. It’s not too heavy and it does the job that it is supposed to do excellently. Also, as a drugstore product you seriously can’t go wrong. I am turning into a Rimmel fanatic.

Hello Stila, we meet again. Another product heavily discussed here on MissEmilyMarie. I love this product, I will always love this product. I have not repurchased this but when I do I think it is going to be in a different color. I think I have replaced this with another liner as my favorite black liquid liner, but this is still fantastic. I’m thinking of picking this up in Navy, any thoughts?

I have never used a setting spray before this one but now I feel strange without it. This is the Urban Decay de-slick spray. I can tell that this product makes my makeup last longer. There are days I’ve forgotten this and instantly regretted it when I walked out the door. It is very light and it just feels nicer to spray on your face. Also, this really helps mattify your face.
